Description
The majestic bull elk or "Wapiti" of Elk country in Benezette, Pennsylvania photographed during the rut. The Pennsylvania wilds are home to conservation efforts and the largest free-roaming elk herd in the northeastern United States. The Elk are one of the largest members of the deer family. Males shed their large antlers after the rut (mating season) during which they posture, wrestle, spar and bugle to establish dominance over other bulls and protect their harems.
