The Monarch butterfly also known as milkweed butterfly or common tiger is an iconic species commonly found in gardens and fields in North America. During their fall migration southward, monarchs cover thousands of miles with a corresponding multi-generational return north. This picture captures one during it's summer sojourn - a still second in the dappled sunlight among a field of goldenrods.
