Ruby Throated Hummingbird (Female) feeding on a patch of scarlet Bee Balms in a natural habitat. Native plant gardens at various nature preserves & parks are a big attraction for hummingbirds in the summer. These creatures of habit like to defend their little patch of nectar-rich flowers which they visit at short, regular intervals. Observing these tiny jewel toned marvels in motion, flashing a brilliant emerald as they zip back and forth between blooms, quiver in the rain or simply hover in the air, is captivating.
